Following on from the changes made last year to many areas within the SEND department, we look forward to refining these new changes and slowly implementing even more improvements. It has been wonderful to work in close collaboration with our parents and children and receive feedback on the areas that matter most. 

A new support group called  Stepping Stones has been set up by our two SEND parent representatives Mrs Haslam and Mrs Baker and offers support, signposting and advice for any parent/ carer of a child at Northgate with additional learning needs.

Some parents have requested further information regarding the support that is available for parents and pupils through the school.  Please find this outlined below:





Full time member of staff, on the Senior Leadership Team, with responsibility for coordinating the provision for children requiring additional learning support. 


Contact directly (on if you have ANY concerns regarding your child’s progress.


Referrals can be made through the SENDCo to the SpLD Base, Educational Psychologist and to educational advisory services.

School Nurse

Completes referrals for health related needs including speech and language, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and ADHD/ADD.


Supports the development of health care plans for pupils with additional needs.


A service the school buys into, which provides support for pupils in terms of their emotional health and wellbeing.
